Pristine water, white sandy beaches, lush marine life and endless sunshine wait for every visitor to Club Med Kani in the Maldives, an island country in the Indian Ocean famous for its resorts. Far, far away from busy Jakarta, Club Med Kani is located in the North Malé Atoll, 35 minutes away on speedboat from Velana International Airport in Malé, the capital of the Republic of Maldives.
With newly renovated rooms including interconnecting options designed for optimal family comfort, Club Med Kani offers the perfect escape not only for honeymooners but also for families from noisy metropolitans like Jakarta.
Designed with the natural beauty of the Maldives in mind, Cub Med Kani has 272 rooms on land and 75 "overwater" bungalows built right on the water, split into "sunset" or "sunrise" villas.

The Club Room (starts from $209) is a spacious 32 square meter room with a garden view, a king-size bed, a study table and seating area, private shower and hand-crafted custom furniture in each suite. The Deluxe Beachfront Room offers a bigger space to fit a comfortable in-room seating area, private bathroom and toilet, a king-size bed and a private terrace with direct access to the sea.
Meanwhile, the Overwater Suite located just outside the deluxe beachfront rooms offers a generous 98 square-meter room with a king-size bed, private bathtub with a view of the sea and a private lodging’s sun terrace, giving guests their own space to relax with direct access to the blue lagoon.

The overwater bungalows are restricted only for couples and families with children above 14 years old.
Even though the resort is open for families traveling with their kids, its marketing and sales support executive, Melly Dentinarahmi, said it may not be suitable for children below 2 years old.
All-Inclusive Services
To let guests enjoy Club Med Kani without distraction, the place offers an all-inclusive service, which means guests can order everything from free-flow drinks to food for breakfast, dinner and lunch, or sign up for sport activities or other entertainment during their stay without having to reach for their wallets each time.
Three restaurants are available at the resort, all near the main areas, serving food from around the globe.
The main restaurant is called Velhi, located right in front of the main area, facing the sea. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurants serve Japanese, Korean, Italian, Indian, French and Chinese dishes from a buffet.
Velhi also has an open terrace for guests to enjoy their meals under the warm sun or under the stars on beautiful tranquil nights at the Club Med Kani resort.
The other two restaurants, Kandu and Kaana, are also open all day and in the evening.
People in the resort can also enjoy free-flow drinks at the sunset bar, which opens from 9 a.m to 9.30 p.m. Those who would like to go on and dance the night away can come to the main bar called the Iru Bar, which opens from 7 p.m to midnight.

After a long day at the beach, the body can get pretty sore and stiff. If you want to get a bit of pampering to refresh yourself, Club Med Kani offers a range of spa treatment by Mandara from Bali.
The spa is conveniently located in the center of the island, built inside a walled garden featuring traditional bungalows.
The facility offers six double balés (traditional Balinese house), a manicure and a pedicure room and two double spa suites with private outdoor shower and bath.
The spa treatment costs extra, with prices ranging from $69 to $259.
Water Sports Paradise
Well-fed guests can choose from over 60 sports and outdoor activities including kayaking, surfing, snorkeling, diving and water polo. There are more than 12 beautiful diving spaces in the atoll. If you are a beginner or can't swim, Club Med Kani provides swim, snorkeling and swimming lessons with their certified trainers.
The resort also put your safety on their priority. As a safety measure, everyone who wants to join a water sports activity at the club has to take a swimming test first.
Scuba diving around the atoll will incur an extra charge. Divers who want to explore some of the best diving sites in the Maldives can go to the Eurodivers scuba-diving center near where the main restaurant is located.
Club Med Kani also identifies which of their guests are surfers and will place them in rooms located near a surfing spot called "Ninja Point" within the resort. The resort usually puts their surfer guests near the point so when they see a big wave coming from their room they can just run and catch it.
A fully-equipped gym is also available at the resort. Guests can take advantage of a complete range of gym activities including zumba, pilates, power walk and yoga.
The Club Med Experience
Club Med is well-known for its perky guest relations officers. During breakfast, lunch and dinner, the GOs (Gentil Organisateur, French for "Gracious Organizer," coined by Club Med) will ask guests if they can sit with them during meals.
The GOs have to greet guests wherever and whenever they are.
When I asked Club Med Kani hotel service manager, Chokri Refchici, he said it is mandatory for GOs to get to know the guests.
"It’s a tradition here. This is the only place where there are no boundaries between the staff and the guests."
To provide guests with a customized service, all Club Med facilities have hired staff from 25 different nationalities.
"Our guests come from around the world. To be able to give the best service, we have to hire staff who can speak several languages. We want our guests to feel like home whenever they are here."
"Club Med offers more than just a vacation. Here, we have something for everyone that is unlike anything you have ever experienced before," Chokri added.
